Giving you time to write.

Welcome to JL Author Services.

I'm the JL in JL Author Services - Joanne Levy, and I'm here to help you organize the business side of your author life.

I'm a trained professional with over 14 years experience in administrative assisting--over five dedicated full-time to assisting authors--and I'm ready to get and keep you organized. And I'm not just an experienced assistant, I'm also a published author with the skills and industry information to manage all the day-to-day little stuff an author needs to deal with, leaving you time to do what's most important to you: writing.

I excel at jumping in and taking over the minutiae - little time suck tasks that eat away at your writing time. I'm technology savvy, efficient and love to organize, so let me take these things off your hands. Being a published author means I'm familiar with the industry and what authors need, from social media and contests to setting up events and liaising with bookstores.

I am happy to:

  • Answer fan mail
  • Organize e-mail
  • Create and distribute e-mail newsletters
  • Assist with scheduling and calendar maintenance - Skype visits, bookstore/school events
  • Arrange travel
  • Create tailored school, library and bookstore contact listings and coordinate mailings (mailing lists, labels, postcards)
  • Light graphic design - Flyers, postcards, newsletters, Social Media posts and banners
  • Website and Blog updating - events, posts, announcements
  • Prepare and send out media kits
  • PowerPoint presentations for conferences, school visits
  • Sales analytics
  • Social networking
  • Manage contests and set up raffle widgets
  • Research and style guide for novels/series
  • Beta read manuscripts (as available - separate pricing, please contact me for details)

Any other little things you need - everyone is different and has different needs, so let's chat about what I can do for you.

I have a solid administrative background and provide the utmost in confidential services. No job is too small; if you just need a hand in organizing a marketing campaign in advance of your book coming out or around a time when you're busy on deadline, I can help as-needed. I charge an hourly rate for most tasks, billed monthly.

Wondering if an assistant is right for you? Let's chat! Contact me at info@jlauthorservices.com and we can talk about how I can help you. There is no cost for initial consultation.

Testimonials:
"Joanne Levy is detailed, efficient, pleasant, and fast -- plus she knows the book biz. She's the perfect virtual assistant for any author."
- Lisa McMann, NYT bestselling author of WAKE and THE UNWANTEDS series

"Joanne Levy is one of the most organized human beings I've ever met. She's super-smart, efficient, kind, and funny--an absolute joy to work with."
- Kate Messner, author of THE BRILLIANT FALL OF GIANNA Z. and the MARTY MCGUIRE series

“Joanne's organization, persistence and focus on the details give her the skills needed to be a great assistant, but it's her insider knowledge of publishing that gives her the edge. Joanne was able to seamlessly organize our panel for a National conference coordinating deadlines, technical needs, signing schedules, and travel. It made a hectic event enjoyable.”
- Eileen Cook,  author of WITH MALICE

"Joanne Levy created a wonderful newsletter for me, which looked far more professional than anything I could have done for myself. She also pulled together a mailing list and got me established with a newsletter service. In just a few hours of work, she saved me weeks of fiddling around and freed me up to be more productive. She's organized, smart, pleasant, proactive and savvy about publishing. I recommend her highly."
- Barbara Rogan, author of A DANGEROUS FICTION and other novels.

"I've been working with Joanne for the past three months over the course of a book release, and she's single-handedly kept me sane and organized. Because she's an author herself she knows what going through the process of a release is like, how much chaos and juggling there is behind the scenes to get the word out and keep the book visible. I love delegating things to her knowing that they'll be taken care of promptly, and she's made improvements to my website, reached out to new reviewers, coordinated my schedule -- basically done all the things I would have had to let slip through the cracks with my crazy work/life/writing calendar. It is such a relief to have her on my team -- I don't feel like I'm falling behind on promotion and professional fronts anymore, which frees me up to get so much more writing work done."
- Cassie Alexander, author of the EDIE SPENCE series, including NIGHTSHIFTED, MOONSHIFTED, SHAPESHIFTED, and DEADSHIFTED
